Kiyomasa Katō is a character in the Samurai Warriors series, first playable in Samurai Warriors 3. He wields a Scythe and loyally serves Hideyoshi Toyotomi. He also shares a friendship with Mitsunari Ishida and Masanori Fukushima.

Role in the gamesEdit

During his generic appearance, Kiyomasa is a retainer of Hideyoshi Toyotomi, friend of Masanori Fukushima and rival to fellow Toyotomi retainer Mitsunari Ishida. He fights alongside his lord in most of his battles. After the death of Hideyoshi, the land is divided between Mitsunari, fighting for his late lord's son, and Ieyasu Tokugawa. Unable to side with Mitsunari, Kiyomasa joins Ieyasu's Eastern Army. In some characters' Dream Stage interpretations of the Battle of Sekigahara, like Nene's, Kiyomasa appears fighting on the Eastern Army's side.

Samurai Warriors 3Edit

In Samurai Warriors 3, Kiyomasa has a more friendly relationship with Mitsunari. However, Kiyomasa still joins the Eastern Army, tricked by Kanbei Kuroda, making for more sentimental and awkward conversations between him and Mitsunari. After Mitsunari's death, Kiyomasa rejoins the Toyotomi and fights on their side during the Siege of Osaka Castle. He is one of the Toyotomi Retainers; and he showed he only wanted to preserve the Toyotomi name.
