Role in the Series[]

Samurai Warriors 4[]

Munenori alongside the rest of the Yagyu clan first served under Hisahide Matsunaga. Munenori is the only one who loyally stood by Hisahide during their time with the Oda and supported him throughout. After Hisahide's seppuku, Munenori joined Mitsuhide Akechi's rebellion at Honnoji, for the sake of seeing how it will all play out in the end and ensure Hisahide's death would have had a meaning. He then accompanies Mitsuhide to Yamazaki and after the Akechi are defeated, flees with Motochika Chōsokabe and Koshosho to Shikoku where they are defeated once again and surrender to Hideyoshi. Munenori is made a vassal of the Toyotomi and fights at Odawara Castle and Oshu. He joins the Tokugawa during these conflicts believing in Ieyasu Tokugawa's vision of stability and watches over his son, Hidetada, and teaches him swordsmanship in order to preserve the Tokugawa's future. He fights at Ueda Castle and Osaka castle and survives to see the end of the war.
